How To Install GTA 5 Mods On PC Easily!
Install GTA 5 Mods On PC – It’s quite mind-blowing that after 9 years of release that GTA 5 is still one of the most played games in recent years. To think of it, Rockstar did a great job at making sure that players will not run out of things to do. Not to count the GTA 5 online multiplayer mode that almost never run out of players, with around 150 thousand active players a month.
However, the developers did step it up a notch when they released the game on PC and allow a community of modders to enter the picture. The GTA 5 modding community is huge and by now we have every mod that we can think of.
Considering the wide range of mods for players to try, I’m sure that you would want to add some of these add-ons to make your gameplay even more enjoyable. Or perhaps to add a little bit of spice to your mundane vanilla gameplay.
That’s why in this article I’m going to exactly tell you how to install GTA 5 mods on PC. It’s going to be so easy that it won’t feel like any work at all.

Warning
Before we get started, it’s important to know that while there is no limitation to your single-player mode, it doesn’t go the same for GTA Online.
Rockstar will not ban any players from modding their single-player version of the game. However, you are not allowed to add even the tiniest bit of modding to the GTA Online gameplay.
If you decided to do it anyway, this could lead to a complete and permanent ban from accessing GTA Online. So it is very important after you play mods in single-player, to disable all of the mods before playing GTA Online.
With that out of the way, here’s how you can install GTA 5 Mods on PC.
Script Hook V
The very first thing you need to get is the Script Hook V. This tool is the very best tool you can use to add mods to your GTA 5 game. To put it simply, you have to write a script and then add it to the game to run the mods. As complicated as it sounds, the Script Hook V is the quickest and easiest way for you to install any mods.
Script Hook V will contain what you call an Asi loader, which is the type of file of most GTA 5 mods you can find. The Asi loader will allow the game to run the mod files, which in turn will enable the mod features in-game.
Besides that, Script Hook V will also provide you with a Native Trainer. The only essential part of the application is the Asi loader, however, the Native Trainer is crucial too. I would recommend you allow the Native Trainer so you can use cheats in-game. Cheats such as faster sprinting, super jump, invincibility, etc.
To install the Script Hook V, follow these steps:
- Download Script Hook V from the GTA 5 mods website.
- Extract the file that you have just downloaded. Inside you will find a \bin folder, and there you will find the ScriptHookV.dll file.
- Copy the file and paste it to your main GTA 5 folder. Make sure that it’s the folder that contains the GTA5.exe file.
- Add the Asi loader, by copying a file named dsound.dll into the GTA 5 directory.
- To enable the Native Trainer, copy NativeTrainer.asi to the directory of the GTA 5 game files.
LUA Plugin
Another thing you need to get is the LUA Plugin. Not all mods need the LUA Plugin to run but in case some need it, you already have it installed. Some of the mods that require the LUA Plugin such as Enhanced Train Driver and Ragdoll on Demand scripts.
To install the Plugin, follow these steps:
- Download the LUA Plugin here
- Extract the file you have downloaded
- Inside the zip file you will have two things: a folder named ‘scripts’, and a file called LUA_SDK.asi
- Copy both of them and put them inside the GTA 5 game directory, the same spot where you put the Script Hook earlier.
Inside the ‘scripts’ folder, there should be a folder called ‘addins’. There should be some .lua files that cames with the files, you can delete them if you don’t need them.
So, the way it works is when you have a mod that came with a .lua file, drop that file into the addins folder. Of course, always refer to each mod’s installation instructions to make sure you don’t miss any crucial steps.
How to install a mod in GTA 5
Now that you have the tools to run the mods inside the game, let’s try some mods. You have probably got something in your mind already, but for the sake of the tutorial now I’m going to use something as simple as the Ragdoll on Demand.
How to install GTAV ragdoll mod:
- Once you downloaded the mod scripts, extract the file
- Inside it, you will find a ragdoll-on-demand.lua file.
- Copy the .lua file and drop it in the addins folder we discuss earlier
- That is it!
The next time you run GTA 5, your Ragdoll mod should be enabled and active. Try pressing ‘u’ to perform the Ragdoll action in game and see whether you have successfully installed the mod.
Congrats! you are now a certified GTA 5 mods installer. Now that you know how to install GTA 5 mods on PC, you can import a lot of different scripts into your game.
